Well, my trip to North Carolina, was not a great trip, yes, I was able to visit old friends, and see the snow on the ground on my old hunting and fishing grounds, but the main purpose of my personal business trip was a complete and utter failure but not on my part but on a small technicality on the deal. I will return back to the North Carolina, on February 4,2009 to try to complete my business. I was able to study on Catfishing, and Crappie for the up coming spring season during my off time there. Grumps and I spent the day cutting down another tree off the neighbors fence and course it was the usual Grumps and Grandpa Cruz discussions during the whole time, for example, I told, Grumps, if I make one cut on the notch the tree is going to come down and sure enough, the tree did come down and almost hit me, good going Grumps. Well we will spend most tomorrow taking the tree to landfill. I want to thank everyone that reads my blog, I know right I have nothing to report on hunting and fishing, but my blog is intended to show what the budget minded hunter and fisherman are doing on weekly basis. I do want add a plug, for a bait shop in Spring, Texas off I-45 and the Louetta exit, once you exit the Louetta exit just Spring High School, you stay on the feeder go past and under Louetta road and just as past the Exxon on your right go through the intersection you will see the old bait shop, the guy there is very nice and unique in his own way but he has the best bait in the area and the entrance ramp is easy to get on but remember he only takes cash. I hope to have more next week. til then my all have a Good Week and God Bless America and your family.

A True Hunting Tale:Bigfoot in the Sam Houston National Forest
As I'm starting a new hunting tale of Bigfoot in the Sam Houston National Forest, Grumps is forming camo patterns out of cardboard in my mom's living room (dad's ex-wife) for the "Cat-Monk" our jon boat. This winter's night is cold. The moon is full and bright across a bright starry night. I'm thinking back on one my great hunting adventures of this past year and how often a hunting tale becomes a hunting tale. This hunting tale is really true. Believe me I would not lie or pretend to makeup this hunting tale. It was the 3rd weekend of our 2008 deer hunting season, Grumps and I had hiked down the road to deer* And as we got closer to our hunting area, we heard a horrible screaming almost a type of howling of an animal like neither Grumps or I had ever heard before. The coyotes in the hunting area were going crazy with their own howling and yelping. The screams of this animal sound like it was in pain or anguish, Grumps said, it might be bobcat or wild hog perhaps even a cougar trapped by the coyotes. Yet, I was thinking could it be the legendary Texas Bigfoot? Believe me, I would have never thought a Bigfoot could be sited or heard in Texas but if you go to this online web site you find that a Bigfoot type of creature has been seen in the Sam Houston National Forest. http://www.texasbigfoot.org/. Well, I started to setup my portable camo blind in a downed pine tree, and this howling and screaming continued, over and over again, you need to remember for a moment its 4:oo a.m. in the pitch dark and Grumps is going to leave to his own hunting area and soon I would be left all alone. Grumps assured me that nothing would attack me, "yeah right", I said, to myself, but I had my Sako Tikka .270 wsm and my Ka-bar military knife on my side, I knew, I was fully armed to the teeth but what if my weapons were not enough to protect me from what was screaming and howling. Grumps, asked me if was going to be ok, and course I said, "yes, Dad, I will be alright". After I said, a quick prayer, and asking God to protect me, I felt much better. The howling and screaming continued for about another 45 minutes and finally it stopped just before day break. Later that day during our mid-day lunch break, Grumps and I talked what had happened that early morning we continued to speculate what it was or was not. Grumps and I never really spoke about this again until a few weeks later, when we had scouting trip prior to last 2 hunts of the season that we finally stopped and had a chance to speak to the forest ranger and the head biologist of the Sam Houston National Forest, the biologist kinda joked and laughed with us and told us not worry that sometimes Bigfoot hunters would leave recordings of primates near camera traps to try to lure a Bigfoot near. The biologist also said, it could have been trappers trying to lure in the coyotes. Grumps and I both said, that it was the most logical answers to the question of the howling and screaming of that early morning. But now what if, there were no Bigfoot hunters in the area or any trappers? We did not see anyone walking down on the road to deer* that day or morning. Now just for think for a moment If was a really a Bigfoot!

Happy New 2009 New Year of Fishing and Hunting:
White Bass (Morone chrysops)
Happy New Years!
White Bass Fishing:
As Grumps and I settle in for few months of chores and boredom during the cold months. I wanted to let everyone know Danny Matt was here last week and boy do I have a wonderful grandson!! Sorry, to say I don't have any pictures of my grandson but soon I will. My daughter Sarah, and her husband Donald are doing an outstanding job and I want to salute them on being great new parents. My son Joey and his wife Tania, are doing great as well this New Year, Joey and Tania moved to brand new loft apartment. It's a little premature of me but hopefully my youngest son Cory aka "the Monk" may be here with me soon in Texas but if not I know I will be spending more time with him this year, the monk is great fisherman too. The fish above know as the Texas White Bass, Grumps, and I will soon be plotting to add this fish to roster of game for the up coming spring. I hope we can catch a good run, last year we were a little late getting started to catch this wonderful and tasty game fish. Grumps, has a river front lot on the San Jancinto River between Conroe, and the Woodlands, the lot is not very pretty but we do have our own private access to the river. The bait of choice will be minnows and small spinner baits. We will be using light tackle and may even simple cane poles.there is a spot on the river where they should be schooling. We are still in the process of building a crossbow to hunt wild hogs, too. Our jon boat named the " The Cat-Monk will be another winter project for us to keep us busy. I want to wish everyone the Best for 2009 for Fishing and Hunting.
